Acceptable Use Policy
We have the privilege of using technology in the
classroom to enhance our learning, expand our thinking and
express our ideas. With every privilege comes responsibility.
It is our responsibility to use technology appropriately by
following Acceptable Use Guidelines. These guidelines help
guide us in making good choices and protect us, so that we
can have a safe enjoyable experience using all types of technology.
By following these guidelines we show respect for our self
and others.
As the teacher
1. I will review the Internet policy and procedures prior
to any searches with the students.
2. I will supervise the students while working on the Internet.
3. I will teach proper Internet etiquette.
4. I will not post any personal information about students
without prior consent from parents.
5. I will research educational sites on the Internet that
are content rich and appropriate to the students age level.
6. Students will be trained in Internet safety a will learn
good and appropriate searching methods.
As a student and producer of information

1. I will use email to communicate with teacher and possible
e pals
2. I will produce items such as word processing documents,
PowerPoint presentations, and other projects using technology.
3. I will use proper Internet Etiquette.
4. I will act in a responsible manner and use appropriate
language.
As a student and consumer of information

1. I will follow the rules and guidelines set by my teacher.
2. I will search the Internet responsibly.
3. I will understand that the Internet is a privilege that
can be taken away if not used correctly.
4. I will only receive e-mail or view information from others
if approved by my teacher first.
5. I understand that filters have been put into place to protect
me. If I view something that is inappropriate, I will close
my screen and tell the teacher immediately.
6. I will respect others in the computer lab will do my best
not to disturb anyone who is working.
As a student...
1. I will not provide any personal information about myself
or others without permission from my parent and my teacher.
2. I will not use offensive language.
3. I will not insult, harass, or attack others in any way.
4. I will not copy someone else's ideas or words as my own.
5. I will not violate copyright laws.
6. I will not use others' passwords or share my password.
As a Parent . . .
1. I agree to discuss these rules, guidelines, and consequences
with my child.
2. I grant permission for my child to use network computer
services such as electronic mail and Internet.
3. I understand that filters are in place to protect my child
from harmful information and will not hold the school and
its staff responsible for controversial materials acquired
on the network.
4. I understand that my child's class work may be posted on
the World Wide Web and that no personal information will appear.
