Developmental
Preschool / Peer Pal Program
Welcome
to Camelview's Preschool / Peer Pal Program.
As in
all preschools, children attending the Madison Developmental Preschool/Peer
Pal Program are making new friends, learning new skills, and having
lots of fun.
This
integrated preschool program offers small classes with individual
attention for all students. The classes are taught by certified
teachers with academic backgrounds in early childhood, special education,
and child language development. These professionals strive to provide
a creative and nurturing environment where children who have been
identified with special needs play along side their typically developing
peers.
The
preschool curriculum is designed to meet the developmental needs
of all children with play as the primary means of encouraging skill
development. The children are given the opportunity to actively
manipulate materials in a natural play setting, thus gaining new
skills while fostering new relationships. The Developmental Preschool/Peer
Pal Program focuses on child-directed rather than teacher-directed
activities.
Research
shows that peer children placed alongside children with special
needs will grow to become more independent and empathetic toward
others. Through social interaction and play they learn to share,
respect others, problem solve appropiately, and understand themselves
and how to positively affect their environment.
The
Developmental Preschool/Peer Pal Program has current openings for
both morning and afternoon sessions. For more information, please
